Unchain is a local business discovery app that uses AI-powered recommendations to find alternatives to chain businesses.

Unchain allows you to use AI to find local alternatives to chain businesses. For example, you might put in “Starbucks,” and your query would be processed with AI to search local coffee shops in your area that could provide an alternative to Starbucks. This app was written for the 2026 FBLA Coding & Programming competition and placed 3rd in the state of Virginia, qualifying for the national competition. It was written with Next.js, AI SDK, and shadcn/ui.
